Sabot #4 (rental)
Wind: North
Air Temp: 59ºF
Wind Speed: 6 kn
What I thought sailing was today, was not nearly as high as I thought of sailing in yesterdays.
Today.
Was Sailing.
I sailed today.
In a better way, güey,
and 'Twofer Tuesdays' can't come too soon.

Thought I Told You That We Won't Stop. I Thought I Told You That We Won't Stop. Eh Eh!
Those bastards at Cox Communications have officially terminated our internet, but that ain't going to stop us from having web 2.0 fun! No way José. I'll be taking this show on the road to hit up any free wi-fi spots in town. Watch yo back! I might be creeping outside your house and on your home network right now! Learn from our mistakes: don't get caught downloading entire bootleg programs like my roommate and myself.
In unrelated news, it was a beautiful sunny day today in San Diego (with condolences to mi hermano in Oakland, he is bitterly hiding from the dreary weather up north). The wind was breezing off shore quite nicely and caught the luff of my sail just right. The elements were generous enough to let our sailing class spend the day learning how to travel into the wind. This involves Tacking at a zig-zag pattern (aka "Beating") so as to avoid the "Irons" or "No-Go-Zone." Everything went well, however, there was one casualty: my cheap plastic, neon sunglasses. Damn, I liked those. I hope a few crustaceans made a nice home out of them at the bottom of Mission Bay.
Tonight, my Film Aesthetics class screened Annie Hall (1977), directed by and starring Woody Allen. If you've seen any Woody Allen flicks, you know that he's got a very intellectual-sexual comedic style. I really enjoyed this movie, but more so for its cinematography and symbolism. The way Allen juxtaposed his NYC loving character against Annie Hall's desire to explore the wildly hip Los Angeles scene was perfectly polar. And as always, Woody Allen plays a neurotically hopeless shmuck that both frustrates and teaches. I'd give it an 8 out of 10, that is, if I was into that sort of thing.
Not a bad day.
Catch you down the street at the coffee shop with the bomb green tea, free internet, and trendy art on the walls.

If I slam, you have to come back and get me. No man left behind, obviously.
My "to do" list never ceases. Somewhere between handling my daily tsunami of classwork, going to the bank to stack my paper, paying my bills to get rid of the paper, and trying to put some healthy food in my body, I have to find time to squeeze out some creative juices. Today's mission: look into drum recording equipment to lay down a few tracks.
I have to do my body some justice and pump out a few laps at the Aquaplex first. I wonder how many laps a day Michael Phelps smokes...I mean "swims." No diggity.

If you're in San Diego, go to this please:
I's and Ears:
This is Natalia Fabia:

And this is what she paints with oil:

She's having a gig at the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City right now. Would you like to go?

When I was a youngin', I was strapped down to an electric chair and subsequently forced to listen to this group...and for that, I owe thanks to my older brother. This is a great new tune off some forthcoming stuff as well as a very awesome music video. Enjoy!

Fat Tuesday was pretty Phat
I felt pretty sore this morning. It felt as if my body was run through a meat grinder...but in a good way. After running a quick scan on my previous day's activities in my memory banks, I remembered that I was in "Warrior Training" mode. Swim. Drums. Rock climbing wall. Ouch. That's why I'm feelin' it today.
Today was the best day of sailing so far, by far.
The winds were really pumping from the east of the bay and our instructor told us that 1 of our crew would capsize their sabot. I thought it would be the new kid because he lacks the experience that the rest of us have out there on the open seas.
Sabot Rental #23 was JAMMING along the water. No one could catch me around the Tacking and Jibing course. I'm talking about at least 21.72 to 26.07 knots out there! Great day.
President Obama laid it down pretty hard and flat tonight. To be continued...

Hooray Mardi Gras! Let's all go to Rio and New Orleans!
